Transportation

The transportation service Ride To Care provides free rides to covered health care appointments for Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members in Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington Counties who have no other transportation options. The service uses local drivers and local transportation organizations to get you to your appointments and home again.

This service is available for members of both of the Tri-County Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs), FamilyCare and Health Share of Oregon. Members must fit the OHP criteria for approval for this benefit.

Ride To Care lets OHP members schedule their rides in advance or by phone at the numbers below or online. Call Ride To Care as soon as you know about a future health care appointment. Calling ahead of time will help make sure you get the ride help you need, especially if you have special needs. And you can call up to 3 months before your appointment to set up a ride.

You can reach Ride To Care at the following numbers

  • 503-416-3955 local
  • 1-855-321-4899 toll-free
  • 711 for Oregon Relay Service or TTY/TDD

The phone lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with core business hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Rides to appointments and back home will be provided from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Members can also visit www.ridetocare.com and set up an account which will allow them to schedule their future trips online.

How to Schedule Ride Services to Your Health Care Appointments

Depending on medical conditions, ride options include bus tickets, TriMet passes, taxis and wheelchair lift-equipped vans. The service also uses volunteer drivers and can reimburse members for their transport mileage.

Along with routine doctor appointments, members can schedule rides to and from OHP-covered urgent care, chemotherapy and dialysis.
